Pabst Park is hosting a neighborhood wide rummage on Saturday, June 20th from 8am-3pm.

Look for participants from 60th to 68th Street between North Ave and Lloyd St.

Residents: Here’s your chance to get rid of the clutter and sell all those items you just don’t quite need anymore!  Participation is FREE to those who are already members of the PPNA. If you are not a current member, you can pay the non-member participation fee of $8 OR join the PPNA for the rest of this membership year for $10. Your membership will give you access to our eBlast newsletters and events we host through September 30th. Rummage flyers will be delivered to your home in the next week or print this flyer to participate. If you choose to join the PPNA, please also submit a membership form with your rummage form. Thanks so much to VP, Mary, for taking the lead on our Rummage Event!

Volunteers are needed to deliver flyers to all residents.  Please email, Mary at mbalistreri@wi.rr.com, ASAP to help deliver flyers to a block near you!

Tosa Watch

Great information here from the Wauwatosa Police Department!  Do you know your Neighborhood Watch Block Captain?  Look for more information later this year as the WPD works with neighborhood associations to update the block watch program.  TosaWatchApril-June2015

PPNA Board Meeting

Board_Meeting_image_final_2The PPNA Board will be meeting on Monday, January 12, 2015.  Do you have some fresh ideas? Want to get more involved?  Feel free to join us at Camp Bar on 66th and North beginning at 6:45pm to discuss our events for the first half of 2015.  In particular, we are looking for someone to coordinate our Winter Happy Hour on a Saturday in February or early March.  The coordinator would just need to contact a local venue like, Camp Bar, Red Dot or Bel Air Cantina for availability and what they could provide for our budget.  If you are interested in coordinating the Happy Hour or have anything you would like to share, but cannot attend the board meeting, contact Tammy Crouch at pabstpark@gmail.com or 414.475.6345.

Bag It

Plastic_bagWidespread use of single use disposable bags in our culture is a very pervasive problem.  In this country, we use and estimated 190,000 disposable bags per second requiring 12 million barrels of oil each year.  Most of these bags go into landfills where they can last many hundred years. Why should something that we’re going to use for a few minutes use a material that’s going to last up to 1000 years?

A major concern is environmental impact. Discarded bags clutter our landscape and pollute out waterways.  Over 100,000 marine animals and 1 million seabirds die each year from ingesting or getting entangled in long lasting discarded plastic.

To respond to this concern we have developed a program in Wauwatosa called Tosa Bag It.   Our first effort will be public education to help people understand the plastic bag problem.  We are showing the highly acclaimed movie “Bag It” at the Rosebud Theatre Saturday, April 5 at 10:30 am.  This film has been very effective in presenting the plastic bag problem.  Come and bring your friends and neighbors.

East Tosa Alliance Special Events Committee

easttosavolunteersEAST TOSA ALLIANCE SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU!

Do you love your community? Do you want to contribute to the success of your community? The East Tosa Alliance Special Events Committee is looking for people like you to help us start ramping up to our two big events for 2014!

The East Tosa Gran Prix will take place on June 29, 2014. This past summer was our “rookie” year and we rocked it. The Tour of America’s Dairlyland is the largest criterium bike race in the country, and we hosted the 2nd largest day of the 11-day event with nearly 20,000 spectators. On September 13, 2014, we will host our 5th Annual Chili’n on the Avenue. It is Wisconsin’s only nationally sanctioned Chili Competition that draws more than 8,000 people to cook, eat, drink, play and enjoy live, local entertainment. Part of our mission at the East Tosa Alliance is to work together to make East Tosa a great place to live, work and play, and these events contribute greatly to our success.

Getting involved in special events is a great way to help benefit our community and they couldn’t exist without the help of people like you!
