Family Rock & Gem Show

Rock Bottom: Family Fun at Hart Park

For fifty-one years the annual rock and gem show has been held by the Wisconsin Geological Society. On May 16 and 17 the Muellner Building at Hart Park in Wauwatosa will again be the site for our annual event. Considering the problems with the economy, this is one of the most cost-effective places to bring families together, so we have coined the phrase “Rock Bottom”…Admission is only $3 for adults (two for $5) and accompanied children are FREE. There is a special children’s area where FREE activities will take place.
A paleontologist known as “Paleo Joe” will be coming to share his experiences of finding dinosaur sites. Twenty-two dealers will be displaying their raw minerals, fossils and gemstones, there, plus club members who might be able to identify a rock you might have found and wonder what it is. UWM’s Geosciences Dept. will have their seismographic equipment to measure earthquakes. Door prizes for adults and children will be given. Food items, including home-made goodies, will be offered. Contact for more information can be obtained by calling Paul Schmidt, chairman of the event. His phone number is
414-771-8668 or e-mail pvs@wi.rr.com

Hoppy Easter!

The egg hunt on Saturday was a great success. Who knew Mother Nature could actually cooperate when needed! Thanks to our wonderful mascots, “The Bunny” and “The Egg” for leading the little ones to a bounty of eggs. It was quite a sight to see all those excited faces filling their baskets. Thanks to all who participated!
