Support the PPNA with Metcalfe’s Market Another Helping Program

We’re excited to announce that for the month of January we’re partnering with Metcalfe’s Market to earn money for our organization and give you a discount! Use this coupon to save 5% off your grocery purchases anytime, all month long. And not only will you save – but at the end of the month Metcalfe’s will donate 5% of all our neighborhood member purchases back to us.
Present this coupon (printed or on your phone) at checkout in January anytime to save 5% on groceries, and then Metcalfe’s will donate that 5% to the Pabst Park Neighborhood Association. Win-win!
We will use the proceeds of this fundraiser to move forward with our neighborhood sign project, more info, here.  We still need to form a committee of neighbors interested in taking the lead on this project.  The first hurdle, fundraising, could be easily cleared by Metcalfe’s generosity.  Please let me know if you are interesting in helping with the street sign project via email.

Pumpkin_Head_clothing_icon_ID_1095

Ghosts, Goblins, Princesses and Pirates can Trick or Treat this year on:

Monday, October 31st from 6pm-8pm

Any household within the PPNA borders, 60th to 68th from North to Lloyd, may hand out treats. The Fall Newsletter will have the official PPNA Pumpkin to hang in your window to show your participation. This is a PPNA sponsored event, please support your neighborhood association by joining the PPNA or renewing your membership at this time. Glow Lights will be given out to participants at the membership drive. Two year members and those who have mailed in the membership form will have Glow Lights delivered to their home.
There will be two PPNA sponsored CIDER STOPS. At our cider stops, we will be collecting nonperishable food items, toiletries or monetary donations for Tosa Cares. Visit http://www.tosacares.org for a list of preferred donation items. Have your little ghost or goblin give a little something back to the community for their basket of goodies! If there is a chill in the air, feel free to grab a warm cup of apple cider at either location.
Cider Stops are 2119 North 61st and 2119 North 66th.
This is a Rain or Shine Event!

THANK YOU to our business sponsor, Hue, on 65th and North Avenue, for donating caramel apples for our little ghosts and goblins!  Pick one up at our cider stops while supplies last!  Don’t forget donations for Tosa Cares too!

Tosa’s Night Out

TNO-100-2016-660-black
Tosa’s Night Out will have a new focus this year. The WPD would like to bring the festivities to each neighborhood in Tosa by encouraging localized Block Parties in addition to the celebration at the Milwaukee County Zoo on Wednesday, August 3rd. We already hosted our neighborhood block party, but we can try a simple way to connect and show our support that weekend. On July 31st at 7:31pm, we ask that everyone take a few minutes to come outside and meet the neighbors on your block. We hope to have our Block Watch Captains out to greet you as well. If you want to be included in our WPD and Safety Liaison email updates, you could give your contact information to your BW Captain at this time. Come on out and show your support for the WPD and the Block Watch Program.  You can register here, for Tosa’s Night Out at the zoo.
From the WPD:
On Monday, August 1st, from 6-8pm the Police Department, in coordination with our many neighborhood associations will host “Night Out in your Neighborhood” parties throughout the City. There will be four parties throughout the city that night. Come meet the Police Officers that work your neighborhoods, see squad cars, motorcycles, McGruff, fire trucks, children’s games provided by the YMCA, hot dogs, chips and soda for sale by the Wauwatosa wrestlers, and other giveaways! Stop by to say hello to our officers or ask about crime prevention in your neighborhood.
Monday August 1st – from 6-8pm
Night Out in Your Neighborhood – regional block parties:
• Madison Elementary School, 9925 W. Glendale
• Fischer Building 12121 W. North Ave
• Longfellow Middle School 7600 W. North Ave
• Wilson Elementary School 1060 Glenview Ave.
Wauwatosa Neighborhood Block Watch Program
The Wauwatosa Neighborhood Block Watch Program is a proven crime prevention program that enlists the active participation of citizens, in cooperation with law enforcement, to reduce residential crime. The Neighborhood Watch has three main goals:
(1) Neighbors getting to know each other and working together in a program of mutual assistance
(2) Citizens learning how to recognize and report suspicious activity in their neighborhoods
(3) People using proven crime prevention techniques like Operation I.D., “target hardening”, and lighting – landscaping and locking principles.
